Ashton Parish Church Charity - Small Grants Programme

Aims/priorities: Ashton Parish Church Charity is an amalgamation of a series of small charities which had a variety of different beneficiaries. The charity now has a purpose to support the needs of those in poverty in the area of the Parish of the Good Shepherd, Ashton-under-Lyne. The trustees have decided to make a sum of £18,000 available for grants in 2021 to those working directly with those in immediate need. They would like to fund activities/projects that have a direct benefit for people in need within the boundaries of the Parish of the Good Shepherd.

Successful applicants will be expected to provide feedback on the use of the grant, which may include comments from beneficiaries and appropriate photographs of the ways in which the grant has been used.

Your activity/project must be risk assessed and Covid-secure. A completed risk assessment must be sent in along with your application. Please click here  for risk assessment templates which are provided by Action Together. They will only support projects which have been risk assessed and that are complying to government safety guidance, please visit www.gov.uk/coronavirus for the latest government advice.

They will fund direct support for those in need and projects which directly support those in need. They will consider a small contribution to overheads which directly support the work undertaken but would expect that contribution to be a marginal cost as far as the value of any grant is concerned.

Who can apply? Community groups who are based in and which operate within the area of the Parish of the Good Shepherd, Ashton-under-Lyne. To check whether your organisation meets this criteria please enter the relevant postcode into the search engine on achurchnearyou.com – that site should tell you the relevant parish for your postcode. If in any doubt, please contact Revd. Roger Farnworth on 0161-330-2771.

They will need to verify the status of your group with Action Together prior to making any grant award. In the light of this they expect applicants to be VCFSE groups who are members of Action Together CIO (becoming a member is simple, free and support is available to help you). If you are not a member, please complete an online membership form before submitting your application.
