What is Live Well?
Live Well is Greater Manchester’s movement for community-led health and wellbeing. It's part of Andy Burnham’s Manifesto commitment for “everyone in every community to have daily access to support and advice to improve their physical and mental health and socio-economic status”.
The Greater Manchester Live Well Approach is all about making sure everyone has access to great everyday support—right in their own neighbourhood. It’s a movement that brings together local people, community groups, and public services to help everyone live healthier, happier lives.
Live Well is a cornerstone of the 10-year Growth & Prevention Delivery Plan and the Greater Manchester Strategy, aimed at reducing health, social, and economic inequalities across Greater Manchester. It aims to be the catalyst for delivering long held prevention and reform ambitions and accelerating community-led activity. It will bring about a radical shift in how we deliver services to the public services and work alongside people and communities their neighbourhoods.
Live Well is the region’s work and shared commitment to ensure:
- People have opportunities to be healthy, happy and connected through a variety of activities, support and information
- People can help make their communities healthier and happier, they are being heard and making a difference
- Communities have the resources to make change happen
