The Engagement and Insight Network brings together partners in Oldham, to develop a networking space for anybody whose work involves community engagement, engaging with people in Oldham or who is interested in engagement.
About the network
The network connects organisations who are seeking the views of Oldham residents to support a more coordinated and meaningful approach to community engagement, reducing duplication and ensuring that seldom heard voices are included. The vision the network is working towards is that
“Residents are effectively engaged and empowered to have their voices heard and reflected in local decision making. They will take an active role in defining and designing local priorities, policies and services.”
Objectives and activities.
The network is working towards three objectives towards that vision.
Objective 1: To provide a common approach to engagement and insight gathering across the Oldham partnership and a shared understanding of its value in delivering effective services for residents, by:
Producing a Best Practice Engagement Toolkit to provide consistency of approach
Workforce training to support increased knowledge of engagement practices
Objective 2: To ensure that efforts are not duplicated and insight is shared effectively across the partnership so that residents only have to tell their story once by:
Platform for sharing insight and accessing what was gathered before to create a live repository of insight and resident views
‘Insight Network’ of practitioners to share best practice, notify and co-ordinate upcoming projects and engagement activities to avoid duplication
Objective 3: To create a culture in which Oldham System staff and partners recognise the importance of meaningful and inclusive engagement and have the skills and tools to embed this into practice by:
Engagement Toolkit
Training Programme
Decision Makers Guide to understand the mechanisms and approaches for ensuring that engagement and insight collected by practitioners can inform and shape policy responses
System mechanisms to embed Framework e.g. induction, commissioning specification development
