Action Together’s Volunteering Team are here to offer support to groups working with volunteers across Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside. Our aim is to help ensure that volunteering is an inclusive, high quality and rewarding experience, and that those working with volunteers have the resources and support they need to make this possible.
We can guide you through each step of the volunteering journey, from recruiting volunteers, to supporting with induction and training programmes, to retaining your volunteers, and looking at ways to recognise and celebrate their important contributions. We have resources available below to assist you in your work as a volunteer manager, and our team are available to provide you with 1:1 support to help develop and improve your volunteering programme.

Good Practice Volunteer Management
This good practice video will give you a brief summary of the key points of good volunteer management. From developing your volunteer roles, recruiting and inducting new volunteers, to ensuring your volunteers feel valued and appreciated.
Support to Recruit Volunteers
Action Together hosts an online directory which allows groups to advertise their available volunteering roles and to connect with potential volunteers. As a volunteer manager you can create an account with us and upload any of your current volunteering vacancies.
Our team will then actively promote your roles within our community outreach, and in our work with individuals, to support the recruitment of new volunteers into your organisation. We can also provide support to you in the development of any new volunteering roles, as well as with use of the platform and your manager account. Once registered you can also 'How to Guide' to help familiarise yourself with your new volunteer manager account.

This is a supportive space and opportunity for you to connect with other volunteer managers, share any organisational updates, as well as your current successes and challenges relating to volunteering. Volunteer Training Videos
There are some core topics that are important for all volunteers to be aware of. We have created some bitesize training videos for volunteers on our YouTube channel. These may be useful to provide new volunteers with a basic understanding of some key areas, and also as an annual refresher for your long-standing volunteers.
