What is Live Well?
Live Well aims to support all communities by ensuring great everyday support is available across all neighbourhoods.
Live Well is a cornerstone of the 10-year Growth & Prevention Delivery Plan and the Greater Manchester Strategy, aimed at reducing health, social, and economic inequalities across Greater Manchester. It aims to be the catalyst for delivering long held prevention and reform ambitions and accelerating community-led activity. It will bring about a radical shift in how we deliver services to the public services and work alongside people and communities their neighbourhoods
This webpage will be updated as Live Well develops and grows in Tameside. Please continue to learn more about each key component of our Live Well journey.
Live Well | Accelerator Programme
In 2023, with generous support from Greater Manchester Combined Authority, NHS GM, The National Lottery Community Fund, and the Innovation Unit, the Live Well programme was launched, enabling five accelerator sites to lead work to tackle persistent barriers to Live Well. Tameside is one of the Accelerator Sites, and we have been part of a growing movement for community-led health and wellbeing, connecting and amplifying existing, brilliant support in GM’s communities.
In Tameside, we have focussed on: "How might we use new and shared outcomes to demonstrate the role of Live Well activity in prevention?" We used storytelling to showcase the difference that community level interventions have on people's’ lives and working with the system to sustain, grow and support this.

Live Well | Implementation
What is next for Live Well in Tameside?
Building on the momentum and learning of the Accelerator programme, we are now part of the Live Well Implementation Programme.
Each local authority area in Greater Manchester has received investment to implement the Live Well programme to include:
• The establishment of Live Well centres, spaces and offers
• The integration of support through an optimum neighbourhood model
• The development of a resilient VCFSE sector and an accelerated shift to a ‘culture of prevention’ across our system.
The following slides talk through the opportunities we have to grow Live Well in Tameside, and ensure it remains community-led and system enabled.

Live Well | Your Stories
Do you have a story to tell about the way your group or organisation has improved the life of a local person or your community?
Stories have the power to connect and create change, and we want to capture and showcase many more of the Live Well stories. We will be using a range of different storytelling techniques and methodologies to have the biggest impact. Through these stories we will continue to gather outcomes which showcase the role the VCFSE sector plays as a key partner in prevention.
