What did people in St Peter’s say they need to Live Well?
Live Well is Greater Manchester’s 10-year plan to ensure that great everyday support is available in every neighbourhood and is tackling health, social, and economic inequalities through a community-led and system-enabled approach. Each local authority area in Greater Manchester has received investment to implement the Live Well programme to include Live Well Centres, Spaces and Offers across every neighbourhood.
The initial phase of Live Well implementation focused on testing this model within a neighbourhood, to gather learning and insight to scale this out across other neighbourhoods.
St Peter's Ward was identified and the first step was to speak to local residents.
We wanted to develop a deep understanding, from the people who live in St Peter’s, particularly those who face the worst health outcomes, what do they need to live well, what are the services and support they rely on and what is missing? We want to know with all the assets available in these communities, why are peoples’ outcomes still so poor?
This project took a community led approach to data collection, recognising that local VCFSE organisations know their communities best and have established, trusted relationships that place them in the strongest position to gather meaningful insight.
This report presents what the people of St Peter’s told us about what they need to live well. It highlights the strengths that already exist within the community, the challenges residents face and the opportunities to shape a Live Well approach that reflects the priorities, aspirations and experiences of local people.
