Women's Diversion Fund

Aims/priorities: The funding is intended to support early intervention and community-based services for women aged 18 or over who are at risk of involvement in the criminal justice system, with the aim of addressing the underlying causes of offending and supporting more positive life outcomes.

The scheme aims to:

  • Reduce the number of women entering or re-entering the criminal justice system.
  • Divert women away from custody through early intervention and community-based support.
  • Address root causes of offending, including trauma, domestic abuse, mental ill-health, substance misuse, housing instability and unemployment.
  • Support gender-specific, trauma-informed approaches to women's services.
  • Contribute to wider government priorities, including reducing reoffending and improving community safety.

Who can apply? Applications are open to community and voluntary organisations, charities, social enterprises, and consortia based in England and Wales. The fund is expected to be of particular interest to organisations working in the following areas:

  • Women's support services
  • Domestic abuse
  • Mental health and emotional wellbeing
  • Housing and homelessness
  • Substance misuse
  • Family support
  • Employment and skills
  • Financial inclusion
  • Criminal justice and rehabilitation
  • Community outreach and early intervention

Grant amount: The fund has a total value of £26 million and covers the period January 2027 to March 2029.

Grants will be awarded across 12 regional lots.
