UnLtd - Community Climate Action Awards

Aims/priorities: Community Climate Action is delivered by UnLtd and its partners, the Centre for Energy Equality and Voice4Change England, through the Community Climate Action Engagement Partnership. The programme has received £3.3 million over three years from The National Lottery Community Fund and the Millennium Awards Trust (MAT).

The programme supports social entrepreneurs who are taking practical action on climate change within their communities. It focuses on helping people reduce carbon emissions while improving wellbeing, particularly through:

  • Transport
  • Home energy
  • Sustainable food
  • Reducing waste and consumption

UnLtd is particularly interested in founders with lived experience and strong connections to the communities they serve, including Black, Asian and other minoritised ethnic communities, disabled founders and people working in economically disadvantaged areas.

Who can apply: The current round is aimed at early-stage social entrepreneurs, including people at the ideas stage and those whose venture has been trading for less than one year. The founder must:

  • Be aged 16 or over.
  • Be the founder or leader of the social venture.
  • Live in the UK and have the right to work in the UK.
  • Be seeking funding to create long-term social impact.
  • Need both UnLtd's financial and non-financial support.

The social venture must:

  • Have a clear social purpose and demonstrated need.
  • Mainly benefit people or places in the UK.
  • Do more than simply raise awareness of a social issue.
  • Have potential to become financially sustainable.
  • Have been incorporated for less than four years.
  • Have turnover of less than £250,000 in the last financial year.
  • Focus on one or more of the four climate areas.
    Grant amount: Awards of up to £8,000 are available.

Alongside funding, award winners will receive one-to-one coaching, practical business support, peer learning and networking opportunities. This is intended to help them strengthen their leadership, develop sustainable business models, demonstrate impact and build relationships with partners, funders and commissioners.

Applicants must first complete the online eligibility checker. Eligible applicants will then receive access to the application portal.
