Too Great for Hate - Community Grant Fund 2026 (Tameside)

Aims/Priorities: The main aims of these grants are to:

  • Raise awareness & motivations behind hate crime & the consequences
  • Increase & encourage confidence in reporting Hate Incidents/Hate Crime & prevent hate crime re-occurring and reducing on-line hatred, escalation & its consequences
  • Improve Support for victims & encourage referral
  • Sharing different views, cultures & Inter-Faith activities/Workshops bringing communities together promoting cohesion and friendship
  • Understanding Difference and Protected Characteristics
  • LGBTQ+ Phobia Identity hate & discrimination

Who can apply? To be eligible organisations must be based in Tameside, and be a Constituted, Charity or CIC and engaging with local people beyond their existing membership networks.

We welcome applications from groups that are new to the programme as well as those who have applied previously. Where appropriate, we also encourage partnership or joint applications for this funding. Priority will be given to innovative projects which show an awareness of more than one strand of hate crime and projects which can show a tangible product at the end that can then be re-used e.g. hate crime awareness resources such as posters, film clips, music, artwork, presentation materials and research documents and findings etc.

Only one application for funding will be accepted per organisation.

Grant Amount: Up to £500

Application Process:

  • Submit your application online to sue.moorcroft@tameside.gov.uk
  • Applications will be accepted from Monday 29th September and
  • The Panel will assess all applications that meet the conditions of grant and aim to make a decision by the end of November. (You will be notified by email of the outcome of your application and successful applicants will be required to sign an Agreement Form & provide a copy of the Groups Constitution and relevant documentation).
