Aims/priorities: This grant programme has been launched by Sustain as part of its Food for the Planet project.

Funding is intended to support communities to campaign and advocate to make food in their area better for people and the planet.

Who can apply? Sustainable Food Partnerships, local authorities and community or campaign groups in the UK may apply.

Grant amount: Up to £5,000 are available.

Can you become a Miles of Smiles volunteer driver?

Miles of Smiles is a community transport scheme operating for use by residents of Tameside where volunteer drivers use their own cars and the Miles of Smiles wheelchair accessible vehicle to take people to and from health and wellbeing appointments. Drivers are not paid for their time but there is a charge to cover running costs. This charge is paid direct to the driver and should not include tips.

This year’s Tameside Toy Appeal has been another success due to the work from our amazing volunteers, our Tameside communities, Children’s Centres, local businesses and of course the generous donations of toys and gifts from Tameside residents. Watch the Toy Appeal Video here.

Aims/priorities: The Sport England Small Grants Programme aims to support local community sport projects that seek to encourage people in England, regardless of age, background or level of ability, to feel able to get involved in sport and physical activity. And, in particular, projects which meet one or more of the following aims of Sport England's ‘Towards an Active Nation’ strategy:

10GM is currently mapping out the existing VCSE provision of hospital discharge and readmission avoidance support across Greater Manchester. This exercise aims to identify the needs of local communities with regards to hospital admission and discharge, and the gaps in current commissioning and provision.

Aims/priorities: Announced by Defra to mark the occasion of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in May 2022, the fund recognises the important role that village halls play in supporting rural communities.

The funding aims to support the modernisation and improvement of village halls, so that they are fit for purpose and can provide activities which seek to achieve one or more of the following outcomes for their communities:

This investment supports the sector’s resilience to enable VCFSE organisations that are locally rooted and active in Oldham to deliver activities and services to support their communities through the current Cost of Living Crisis.

Awarded applications are for projects that aim to improve the following outcomes that support Oldham communities and residents who are adversely impacted by the current Cost-of-Living-Crisis.

1. Driving Equality

Taking place on Tuesday 7 February 2023 at Oldham Library (Greaves St, OL1 1AL) between 10.30am - 12.30pm, there will be over 30 stalls bringing together local employers and support services. The event is open to everyone and will be a great opportunity to learn more about the support services available in Oldham, and to connect with local employers.

Aims/priorities: Funded by Money Saving Expert, the MSE Charity gives grants to UK not-for-profit organisations that deliver activities which make a lasting impact on how people think, behave and manage their money.

There are two rounds per year. Four themes rotate through a two year cycle.
