Synergi Small Grants Fund

Aims/priorities: Funding is intended to support collective care, as well as campaigning and other change-making activities, among communities experiencing discrimination and marginalisation.

Who can apply? Applications are open to not-for-profit groups that are:

  • Led by and for Black people and people of colour.
  • Led by and for people who have shared experiences or identities with those they are creating spaces for.
  • Benefitting people or communities who live with mental ill-health, trauma, and distress.

Groups which have some white members and/or members without experience of mental ill-health are still eligible, provided those members are neither the main decision-makers nor the main people who benefit.

The fund is intended to reach those experiencing the most extreme forms of discrimination or injustice, including those affected by:

  • The hostile environment.
  • Anti-transgender legislation.
  • Prevent.

There is a focus on funding groups which are:

  • Led by and for people from Muslim communities.
  • Led by and for trans and non-binary communities.
  • Led by and for refugees and/or people seeking asylum.
  • Engaging with an abolitionist framework.
  • Demonstrating a yearly project income of under £25,000.
  • Non-traditional structures (including those that are unregistered).

Grant amount: One-year grants of £2,000 to £3,000 are available.

Application process: The fund opens on Wednesday 4 January 2023 and closes on Sunday 29 January 2023. Grants will be awarded by the end of March 2023.

There will be an information webinar on Wednesday 14 December 2022, 3pm to 4pm.
