Shears Foundation

Aims/Priorities: Grants are available for UK-registered charities working in the North East of England, York, Harrogate, Greater Manchester, and the City of Bradford in the areas of culture and the arts, education, the natural environment, community development, and promoting health and medicine. The Foundation offers funding to charitable organisations to support projects in their priority areas:

  • The development of culture and arts.
  • The development and provision of educational opportunities for adults and/or children.
  • Protection, preservation or enhancement of the natural environment.
  • Creating stronger, better, more sustainable communities.
  • Promoting health and medicine with an emphasis on research or education.

Who can apply: Registered UK charities with an annual income of less than £1.5 million that are based and working within the North East of England, York, Harrogate, Greater Manchester, and the City of Bradford, can apply.

Grant amount: Grants of between £3,000 and £6,300 are available to non-core groups.

Application process: Groups that would like to apply for a grant need to have an initial conversation with the Foundation. The Trustees will not consider applicants that have not had a conversation prior to making an application. Further information can be found on The Shears Foundation website
