Security Industry Authority Grant for Good Causes

Aims/priorities: The funding is for registered charities and other not-for-profit organisations in the UK where they can demonstrate a grant will have a positive impact on public protection or the wider security industry.

Who can apply? Registered charities (both national and regional charities will be considered) and community interest companies in the UK can apply.

Applicants must also be able to show how the grant will support one or more of the following:

  • People working, or intending to work, in the UK private security industry.
  • The UK private security industry as a whole.
  • Public protection in the UK (for example, by preventing terrorism and crime, or protecting vulnerable people and communities).

Additional and specific criteria may be included for each round of funding. For example, SIA might ask for applications from a particular geographical area or type of projects. Any additional criteria will be published on the GOV.UK website each time the scheme opens for applications.

Grant amount: A very small number of grants are awarded each year with the funding amount dependent upon the amount available to the SIA.

Although grant amounts are not specified, previous grants have ranged from £7,000 to £20,000.

Application process: Applications for a grant will open usually once or twice each year.

Applications are now open with a deadline of 21 February 2025 (23:59).

Organisations who have registered their online Interest (via the online form on the GOV.UK website) will be notified when applications open. Applications for a grant will open usually once or twice each year.

There is no formal application form. The following details should be submitted by email as a Word document or as a PDF in less than 2,000 words:

  • The name of the organisation.
  • Their name and contact details.
  • Their registered charity number or company number.
  • How the project helps to benefits the private security industry and/or protect the public.
  • Why the funding is needed
  • How much money is needed.
  • How the applicant will report back on how the money was used.
