Public Engagement Spark Awards 2025A New

Aims/priorities: The awards are intended to support projects that do one or more of the following:

  • Deliver high-quality public engagement activities in the areas supported by STFC.
  • Introduce STFC science and technology to new audiences.
  • Highlight the achievements of STFC science and technology.
  • Demonstrate the value to the UK of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
  • Work with STFC's public engagement and communication teams.
  • Help to deliver the aims of the STFC public engagement strategy.

Who can apply? Applicants must work for an organisation based in the UK that produces annual financial reports and accounts certified by an accountant. Almost anyone can apply for a Spark award, including:

  • Grant funded researchers
  • STFC scientists, technicians and engineers
  • STFC facility users
  • Schools
  • Museums
  • Science communicators
  • Universities and colleges
  • Community interest companies
  • Libraries
  • Community groups
  • Amateur astronomy groups

Grant amount: Between £5,000 and £20,000 are available for projects lasting between 12 and 36 months.
