Power of Music Fund

Aims/priorities: This fund aims to allow more people living with dementia and their carers to be linked up with music projects and activities in their communities in order to improve quality of life. The funding needs to provide a musical moment(s) of joy for a person or people living with dementia.

The funding is intended for not-for-profit organisations that are already delivering music activities or working with people living with dementia and carers.

The 2025 round is only open to groups working with underrepresented communities, including those from racially minoritised communities throughout the UK.

Who can apply? To be eligible, applicants will need to evidence the following:

  • That they are a UK constitution club, society or other entity with a registered bank account in the name of the music making group, or
  • That they are or are hosted by a charitable organisation (registered charity, CIO) with a bank account in its name and a charity registration number (eg faith centre, dementia support organisation) or
  • That they are a UK statutory body eg NHS or hosted by a registered care home with a registered CQC number.
  • The membership and work of the music making activity demonstrates charitable purpose.
  • The music making activity includes people living with dementia and their carers within its membership and the application describes how the grant will provide a musical moment(s) of joy for a person or people living with dementia (e.g. costs associated with rehearsals/performance(s) including transport for participants.

This fund is only open to applicants working with underrepresented communities, including those from racially minoritised communities throughout the UK.

Groups should have some level of co-production and lived experience built into the organisation and their planning, and their activities should be culturally appropriate. There is also an expectation that links will be formed to Social Prescribing networks locally, if they are not already in place.
