Oldham Crisis and  Resilience Fund | Support for individuals

Oldham Council is working with Action Together to deliver the Oldham Crisis Resilience Fund. 

The Crisis and Resilience Fund is new and is distinct from the Household Support with new scheme guidance. 

Purpose

The fund is designed to help low-income households facing a financial crisis. It provides support for:

  • Essential items
  • Warm clothing
  • Other urgent household needs
What counts as a “Financial Shock”?

To qualify, you must have experienced a financial shock, meaning a sudden & unexpected situation that affects your ability to afford basic living costs.

Examples include:
  • Loss or reduction of income
    - Losing your job
    - Reduced working hours
    - Delays in receiving benefits
  • Emergencies or disasters
    - Fire, flooding, or major damage to your home
  • Essential breakdowns
    - Broken boiler
    - Loss of critical appliances (e.g. fridge, cooker)
    - Essential medical equipment failure
  • Health or family crisis
    - Sudden illness
    - Mental health emergency
    - Taking on caring responsibilities
  • Domestic abuse
    - Leaving an abusive situation & needing urgent support
  • Theft or loss
    - Money or essential belongings being stolen or lost
Eligibility

To apply, you must:

  • Be on a low income
  • Have experienced a financial shock

⚠️ You will likely be asked to provide evidence of your situation before funding is approved.

The Crisis & Resilience Fund is delivered through trusted local organisations and community groups across Oldham.

Agatha Space

Primary focus of the support:

  • Emergency food & especially culturally appropriate food, whether provided directly or via vouchers.

  • Essential items, including toiletries (such as shampoo, soap and shower gel), sanitary items and baby items (such as nappies, formula and wipes), whether provided directly or via vouchers.

  • Clothing, particularly to cover the costs of winter clothing to help residents to keep warm, including coats, jumpers & warm layers & school uniform costs. Items can be provided directly or via vouchers.

Secondary focus of the support:
