Motability - Active Travel Grants

Aims/priorities: Grants are available to local not-for-profit groups for projects which expand access to quality and affordable travel equipment and journeys, and ensure disabled people have the same opportunities to make decisions about how they travel in the UK.

  • Funding is intended to support Motability's key outcomes of:
  • Access - Increased ability to access people and places using transport.
  • Choice and control - Improved independence and control to make decisions.
  • Connect - increased social connections and relationships.
  • Education - increased ability to access education.
  • Work - increased ability to work and pursue a career.
  • Wellbeing - Improved sense of health and wellbeing.

Who can apply? Medium to large charities and organisations with established ways of working may apply.

Grant amount: Grants of £100,000 to £4 million are available. They can be split over one, two or three years.

Application process: There is a two-stage application process:

  • Stage One application form - decisions expected within around four weeks.
  • Stage Two application form - issued to successful applicants, with a timeframe for decisions confirmed by a member of the Grants Team.
