Thanks to funding from Rochdale Borough Council Public Health team, Action Together offers micro grants of up to £1,000 to help the VCFSE sector to support individuals, families and communities in the Rochdale Borough.

Quarter 1 | 2025-2026

Crossway Alliance now Qalycom Health £1,000 We plan to host a creative wellness workshop for 20-30 women in the community around painting, self-expression and wellness. We will organise a paint and chat type session, providing participant with all necessary materials (canvas, brushes, paints etc) and a relaxing supporting environment to nurture creativity and connection.
Colourful Minds £822.11

We are setting up a group to support children and young people with additional needs. This will include, SEND Leggo, sensory stay and Play, SEND art club and SEND girls club.

All of the above group will be delivered at our office and in the Local park on nice days to do some outside activities. 

Al-Abbas Institute £1,000 Our project is both titled and is about strengthening our communities. We have previous experience of delivering successful projects. We have a list of 62 participants from the BAME and refugee communities’ ages 11-16 years and adults. Our project is to provide a 3 hour interactive workshop each month for the next 6 months. 6 workshops will be delivered to the BAME and refugee communities.
BOLD £950 A grant would support BOLD with the ongoing running costs to continue in our work by maintaining our website and purchasing items such as leaflets, posters, notice boards and general stationery, venue hire fees and guest speakers to set up information stands and popup hubs in local supermarkets, shopping centres and community halls, also the associated cost for event refreshments and subsistence and travel expenses for volunteers.
Heady Hill Community Centre £1,086 There are 4 parts to this Grant application, which if successful will fund and empower Heady Hill Men's' Group: Develop a Community Garden based at Heady Hill Community Centre, Enable the Men's' Group to participate in a day visit to the Imperial War Museum North West, Provide funding for a 6-weeks cookery programme called The Big Pan and Promote and advertise the Men's' Group within the town of Heywood.
Soul Sisters £1,200 To train a Peer Support Coordinator with lived experience to lead trauma-informed support groups for women affected by domestic abuse who are going through family or other court proceedings.
Endometriosis Awareness Charity £1,000 We plan to use the £1,000 to translate period pain presentation slides and leaflets into Urdu, Bengali, and Punjabi, Print multilingual leaflets to distribute through local community centres and buy inclusive walk gear such as yellow headscarves, to encourage wider participation on our walks.
Well Foundation £1,000 Youth Performance Pathway is for young people aged between 10 and 24 who want to improve their health & fitness, strength and general wellbeing.  
Kate's Training CIC £1,000 We would like to recruit 12 volunteers from the community – empower them and the volunteers would then help with free community events. We are a service led by community, and we would like to reach out to everyone. We would like to start with First Aid events/workshops for adults and children. 
Women in Touch £1,000 Women in Touch provides free and fully accessible weekly creative movement/dance sessions for women (including trans women) who live or work in or around the Rochdale Borough. These sessions run for 8-12 weeks culminating in a public performance. We hire a space and a choreographer/professional dancer to facilitate the sessions. Our current project started in January 24 and will end with a public performance in June 2025.  We are looking for funding to cover the cost of the choreographer/professional dancer to lead the sessions and room hire.
SupportivLink CIC £1,200 SupportivLink CIC is launching a 4-week pilot Homework Club aimed at primary school children whose first language is not English, especially those from refugee, asylum-seeking, and migrant backgrounds. 
Cray Junior Activity Club £1,200 We aim to take our 8 teenage volunteers with 2 adults on a team bonding day discovering boulder climbing at Summit-Up.
Richard Bentley Smalley Memorial £720 This summer we want to host a get together to celebrate our community’s success in turning our hall from a neglected building to a vibrant and well used community asset. We have approximately 25 long term volunteers, engaged in day to day management of activities, decorating, repairs, maintenance, gardening and upkeep. 
Midas Adventure Activities £941.01 Following the huge success of our previous project, we would like to continue to offer walks, but aim to train 6 walk leaders, in order to sustain the project and to meet the demands and huge numbers. 
St Barnabas Church Thursday Club £1,200 Several of the members have asked if we can extend the facilities to encompass a Luncheon Club. We have managed to get an agreement from a ex school employee to make a meal on a monthly basis along with the help of members of the group. We are hoping if this project is successful we will be able to extend it to happen on a more regular basis. 
North West Community Connection £1,008 We’re planning a colourful, creative, and heart warming community event especially for Chinese, Hong Kong, and other Asian residents living in Rochdale. Called “Balloons of Hope – Lifting Spirits in the Heart of Rochdale”, the event will take place at Rochdale Exchange Centre and will use the joyful power of balloon art to promote emotional wellbeing, reduce isolation, and bring people together through shared experience and creativity.
Masking in the Middle £1,000 I am applying for a £1,000 grant to complete accredited Level 3 Forest School Leader training. This qualification will allow me to deliver inclusive, sensory-friendly forest school sessions in Rochdale for neurodivergent children, particularly those with autism, ADHD, and sensory processing differences, and their families.

Bloom Music Community CIC £954

In September 2024, we successfully launched three brass bands, ranging from beginner to intermediate. We now also have two choirs, based in Littleborough and Milnrow and in September 2025, we will be launching a big band which will open even more musical opportunities in a completely different genre. 

To enable us to continue to these groups, we are looking for funding to purchase equipment, including trombone mutes and percussion. 

As One Wellness Centre £960 As One Wellness Centre is a purpose build community centre to help people through alternative and holistic therapies and interventions to lead a more mindful life.  We run home schooling draft sessions and would like to host a summer club for children from deprived backgrounds heling with breakfast.  A chance for parents also to access our services and socialise. We offer a secure environment to play and eat for free. 
The Young Khadims £680 With the grant, The Young Khadim’s aim is to expand outreach and support initiatives in Rochdale through many aspects. We aim to improve communication and engagement through branded literature and our public liability insurance.
Truffet Park £1,000 We are organising a free, family-friendly community event for the residents of Langley and Middleton. The aim is to bring people of all backgrounds together to enjoy a fun, inclusive day filled with outdoor activities, creativity, and cultural celebration.
GB Sports Network £1,200 GB Sports Network, working alongside Basa Rochdale and Wardleworth FC, will use the grant to host our first major football tournament in Rochdale. The funding will support venue hire, equipment, referee costs, insurance, refreshments, winners trophies and promotional materials, making the event accessible, safe, and professionally organised.
Stars and Stitches £1,000 We will deliver a series of 5 eco-journaling workshops for people living with dementia and their carers in Rochdale and surrounding areas. These workshops will use natural materials such as leaves, flowers, seeds, and plant-based inks to create personal journals that support memory, mindfulness, identity, and emotional expression.
The Outdoor Collaborative £1,200 We will deliver a creative outdoor media project for young people in Rochdale, using photography and filmmaking to explore local green spaces, connect with others, and express their voices. Many of the young people we work with face barriers such as isolation, low confidence, or digital exclusion. This project offers a positive, engaging route to build new skills and improve wellbeing.
Crossway Alliance £1,000 We want to deliver a community-based awareness campaign during Urology Health Week to improve public understanding of urological conditions such as prostate problems, bladder cancer, and urinary incontinence. The project will reduce stigma, promote early help-seeking behaviour, and reach those most at risk—especially men over 40 and underrepresented communities.
MoorEnd Development Trust £1,188 A group of men have recently participated in a 20-week Music for Men project facilitated by Creative Health and led by Katie Jo Genty from Rochdale Music Service and are now seeking to continue to meet and invite new members, including women, to participate in the group developing new music and songs leading to a celebration and potentially some local performances. The funding is required to pay for room hire, refreshments, publicity and some equipment.
Rochdale Mayfield ARLFC £1,000 The club are always looking at opportunities to improve our facilities and hopefully intend to use any funding gained to support the purchase of club branded gazebos that would provide versatile and much-needed sheltered spaces to enhance the experience of our players, families and supporters alike.
Johnny Alfrey Music Memorial £990 JAMM provides young people with rehearsal space, instruments, sound equipment, mentoring, training and workshops to help develop a wide range of skills. Inclusivity is at the heart of JAMM; we celebrate the strengths of young people, removing barriers and involving them in our work. In the Summer of 2024 we ran a small number of workshops for young people with neurodiversity who are passionate about music but have struggled to play as part of a group. Our project builds on this initial work to increase our mentoring offer.
Failinge Community Group £1,000 Following the success of the girls wellbeing project and the positive feedback rom parents and young girls, we would like funding to support girls from the age of 10 years to 16 years. We will have regular sessions and for two groups aged from 10-13 and 14-16 year olds. 
Zeal Empowerment Advocacy £960 Zeal would like to start a Breakfast Club (8 sessions in total) for Global Ethnic Majority (GEM) women and children in Rochdale.
Heywood in Bloom £1,194 This grant would help us to secure the equipment, tools, and plants that we need to continue our work, to engage with more volunteers, and to develop our facilities. 
North West Community Connection £980 We are planning the Rochdale Chinese New Year Characters Gallery, a culturally rich and meaningful community event to take place in early February 2026 at Rochdale Exchange Centre, just before Chinese New Year (17 February 2026).
Our Local Pantry Smallbridge £990

Over the last 12 months our members have asked for help and support with cleaning items as these items are very costly and take a huge amount from their weekly spending budget. 

Following this consultation we have agreed this funding would be used to put together 90 Pantry Cleaning Packs.  

Pennine Stroke Support Group £1,200 To run a fortnightly stroke group.

Quarter 3 | 2025-2026

Healing Humanity HMR £1,000

I am looking at Christmas 2025 and would like to provide a full hot lunch and entertainment again as many of our clients will not see anyone over the Christmas period and may not have the chance to have a hot Christmas meal.

If successful in receiving this grant we will provide photographs of the event in progress together with case studies from participants explaining how they feel about joining these activities.

Kirkholt and Freehold Pantry £990

We will use funding to create 90 Pantry Cleaning Packs. Each pack will include washing-up liquid, bleach, fabric softener, washing pads, and laundry detergent. All items will be purchased from local retailers, with each pack costing £10.90 to produce.

Cleaning packs will be sold to pantry members for £5.00 each, and all proceeds will be used to purchase additional food for the pantries

Lancashire and Cheshire Woodcarvers £1,107.55 To continue delivering high-quality sessions that are safe and accessible, we are seeking funding to renew our essential tools, including folding workbenches with clamps, a heavy-duty bench grinder and a bandsaw. These items will allow us to provide a better experience for both existing and new members.

Finally, we wish to hold a Christmas buffet to bring members together, celebrate achievements and thank the Ukranian Club staff and our volunteer committee for their ongoing support.
GB Sports Network £1,000 The project aims to create a dedicated fitness group for BAME men who have previously attempted gym-based activity but faced barriers to success.
Endometriosis Awareness North £1,000

We plan to use the £1,000 microgrant as follows:

  • Organizing a Coffee and Chat morning at Norden Bowling and Social Club, Deeplish, Castlemere, and KYP Community Centres. These sessions will be used to engage, inform and support women suffering with mental health issues
  • Providing/supporting access to a counselling course for these women, to address the mental health impact of long-term reproductive health issues. 
Tchon Di Esperanca £1,000 The grant will be used to run a six-week programme called Active Sisters, which will take place on Saturdays at The Strand Community Hub, Rochdale, OL11 2JG. The project is designed to support women and girls in Rochdale to become more active, healthier, and more connected to each other and to the wider community. 
Rochdale Masters £1,000 During the recent Club Charity Walk to Blackpool, many participants expressed enthusiasm for forming a regular walking group. The proposed group ‘ROCHDALE MOVERS’ aims to promote health, fitness and community engagement among members and the local community. By organizing regular walks and challenges, participants will be encouraged to stay active, build social connections and enjoy the outdoors in a safe and supportive environment.
Encouraging You £1,185.36 Our active youth sports and awards programme will bring local people together through weekly football cricket and badminton sessions that are open and welcoming to all young teenagers in our community but also these activities provide a positive inclusive environment where young people from different backgrounds can meet, build friendships and work as a team helping to strengthen relationships both within and across our community.
Employabl CIC £1,167.88 We want to run a short programme of four practical workshops in Rochdale that combine employability skills with insights into technology careers. The sessions will cover CV and LinkedIn optimisation, interview preparation, and an introduction to tech career pathways in areas such as data, IT support, cyber security and project management.
One Kingdom One People £815.61

The African Heritage Day has been developed to address these issues around cultural identity and self-esteem among African children. The event will be an accumulation of activities we have been running and will take place at our office, 148 Yorkshire Street, Rochdale, on 6 December 2025.

The project will take the form of a children’s production, featuring a range of creative and cultural activities.

Divided Culture £898 Divided Culture Co. will use the Rochdale Micro Communities Fund to deliver The Future Artists Initiative (Rochdale) — a free creative development programme supporting young people from working-class and underrepresented backgrounds to take control of their creative futures. 
Younique Talent £1,200 WE PLAN TO TEACH 4 GROUPS OF TEENAGERS EVERY THURSDAY  OVER A FOUR WEEK PERIOD, HOW TO DO HAIR TINSEL, HAIR GLITTER, AND CREATIVE UP DO’S. 
Coming Home Project £1,000 This small grant will allow the Coming Home Project to run three Digital Divide sessions in Rochdale, supporting around 30 women who have experienced the exploitation, abuse, sex work, controlling relationships, criminal justice system, domestic abuse, or homelessness.
The Salik Project UK £1,200 We are at the very early stages of developing The Salik Project UK CIC and have already begun working with communities and partner organisations in Rochdale with extremely limited resources. This microgrant will help us continue building momentum by focusing on awareness, education and visibility, before developing any one-to-one support later in the year.
Kickstart With Hope £1,160.82 In the garden at the Alkrington Hub is a large accessible poly tunnel which has been in situ for 8 years and has never been fully utilized. This year we would like to be able to give the structure itself some TLC by recovering and equipping the inside with all the equipment required to produce flowers and vegetables that we are able to use to cook dinners at the hub, flowers to produce bedding plants for hanging baskets. 
The Cabbage Patch Allotment Group £1,200

We now want to build on the success of the Seed fund and develop the Cabbage Patch Allotment Group further as detailed below:

  • We will be growing more variety and volume of veg – this includes growing veg from see planting seeds in garden room within Portal Court.
  • Build a concrete base, for a greenhouse that has been kindly donated
  • Promote healthy eating by delivering fresh vegetables, in a small enough volume for people to use. 
Qalycom Health £1,000 Our idea is to run a Digital Health Access Project that helps local people especially those from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) communities improve their ability to access health information, online services, and digital wellbeing tools.
