Aims/priorities: The Awards are intended to facilitate the work of small charities and organisations working to meet the needs of vulnerable communities and to conserve the natural environment.
Who can apply? In the first phase of the programme, applications will be accepted from the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and South Africa.
Small registered charities and registered non-profit organisations with an annual income of below £500,000 (or local currency equivalent) that focus their work on humanitarian and conservation activities in these countries can apply. There are four categories against which applications can be made: Land, Sea, Wild, Humanity.
Grant amount: One award is available to UK organisations.
The winner will receive:
- £100,000 (or local country equivalent). £50,000 in year one and £50,000 in year two.
- The use of a Defender vehicle for two years.
Application process: Groups must submit an initial online application form before being invited to submit a full application. As part of the full application organisations must submit a 60 to 90 second video about their project.
A panel of experts will review the final shortlisted applications and select the winners.
