Healthy Heart Grants - Granada region now open

funding update

Aims/priorities: The Healthy Heart Grants scheme is a result of a partnership between the Heart Research UK (HRUK) and the SUBWAY franchise. The money for the grants is raised by SUBWAY staff and customers through in-store fundraising and collection boxes. The funding rotates around the UK at different times of the year.

The grant scheme provides financial support to communities so they can lead healthier lifestyles and look after their hearts. Projects should be new and innovative and carried out by not-for-profit organisations to promote healthy hearts and to prevent or reduce the risks of heart disease in specific groups or communities in the UK.

The criteria has been adapted in 2021 in response to the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. This year, funding is for projects that can be safely delivered during the pandemic, including:

  • Funding for projects that can be delivered remotely or with social distancing measures in place that last up to 12 months. Although projects that last for several months may be preferable, consideration will be given to shorter projects, such as one-off events that may last as little as one day or one week (e.g. a socially distanced or online workshop or community event; or a week-long training course).
  • Grants for purchases of equipment only, such as exercise equipment, technology, blood pressure monitors, weighing scales etc). This will only be considered if the equipment can be safely used under current social distancing measures and the equipment should be used to promote heart health.

Who can apply? Not-for-profit organisations in the UK are eligible to apply. This includes charities, community groups, voluntary organisations, and sports groups.Grant amount: A total of £120,000 (£10,000 in each of the UK's 12 regions) is awarded every year.
