Exploring Urgent and Emergency Care Winter Pressures - VCSE Small Grants

**A briefing event for this grants programme will be held on Thursday 4 November 14:00 - 15:00, register to attend here.**

Aims/priorities: Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP) is seeking applications from GM Voluntary, Community or Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations to develop the NHS's understanding of how people use services in Greater Manchester and why some people inappropriately access urgent and emergency care services. This grants programme is administered by GMCVO.

GMCVO and GMHSCP are working together to create a survey to explore these issues and grants of up to £1,000 are now available to GM VCSE organisations to carry out engagement work with communities to support the completion of surveys and the further gathering of intelligence.

They will provide a link to the survey once live on thier website, this is expected w/c Monday 1st November 2021.

They are looking to fund GM VCSE organisations to engage with the people they work with to support the completion of surveys and the further gathering of intelligence into the issues set out in the background information document.

They are keen to explore:

  • People’s understanding of NHS services and which to use when they are unwell and need to seek help.
  • What people think urgent and emergency care is for, and how, and where to access appropriate services.
  • People’s experiences of using NHS 111, either on the phone or online, to get help and support.
  • People’s opinion of NHS 111 and whether they would use it when in need.
  • People’s experience of digital technology to access GP and other appointments.
  • People’s experience accessing NHS mental health services.
  • Any barriers to accessing NHS services and what feedback they can share to make improvements.
  • Where people get their healthcare information from, and how they make decisions on where best to access care.

They welcome expressions of interest from anyone but would be keen to hear from organisations working with:

  • Parents and carers of younger children and teenagers.
  • People with long-term conditions.
  • People age 20 – 39 years old.
  • People with caring responsibilities for older adults.
  • Patient advocacy groups.
  • Protected characteristics/marginalised communities.

Projects must start on Monday 22nd November 2021 and be completed by Friday 10th December 2021 (extensions to Wednesday 15th December 2021 may be approved if extra time required).
