Aims/Priorities: CRASH, the construction industry's charity, assists homelessness charities and hospices with construction-related projects through the provision of grants and professional expertise and materials donated by the construction and property industry. The scheme aims to support homelessness charities and hospices with the practical aspects of refurbishment and construction projects, improving their experience of the construction process and helping them create better places for people to live, work and receive care.
Who can apply: UK registered homelessness charities and hospices seeking support for refurbishment or construction projects relating to the buildings from which they deliver their services. Applicants must have an appropriate legal interest in the property, such as ownership or a qualifying lease, depending on the nature of the project and support requested.
Grant amount: Grant amount is unspecified. As well as grants,CRASH may provide support through:
- Professional expertise: Sourcing pro bono or discounted professional expertise, such as architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and contractors.
- Construction products: Introducing product specifiers and sourcing free or discounted construction products.
- Grant funding: Awarding grants to support eligible projects where CRASH Corporate Patrons are involved and have donated professional expertise and/or construction materials. CRASH is not primarily a grant-giving organisation and will not fully fund a project.
Professional support may be available at all stages of a construction project, including:
- Before construction: Property suitability advice, site surveys and investigations, architectural and engineering design, help developing the scope of works, and tendering and procurement advice.
- During construction: Sourcing construction products and contractor support (where available).
- After construction: Planned preventative maintenance surveys and advice on dilapidations.
Application process: Applicants should contact CRASH before submitting an application to discuss their project and the support that CRASH may be able to provide. If the project is eligible, applicants can complete the online application form. CRASH will then arrange a project assessment visit to discuss the proposed works and determine how it may be able to assist.
