funding update

Aims/priorities: The funding is for sustainable food poverty programmes which tackle the following priorities:

  • Redistribution - Redistributing surplus food to the people who need it most in local communities.
  • Access - Providing easy access to nutritious food and balanced meals for customers with a limited budget.
  • Upskilling - Educating and upskilling customers on low cost meal solutions, limiting food waste and shopping smartly.
  • Young people - Supporting future generations by prioritising the wellbeing of children and young people struggling with food insecurity.
  • Communities - Food programmes for vulnerable communities delivered in those communities.

The types of programmes that can be supported include but are not limited to:

  • Foodbanks.
  • Programmes that tackle food waste.
  • Programmes that encourage healthy eating.
  • Holiday hunger schemes.

Food poverty programmes must be the core purpose of your organisation and this should be demonstrated in your organisation’s aims and objects as shown in your governing documents. Applications which do not meet this criterion will be rejected.

Who can apply? To apply you need to be a charity or community group with your own bank account and relevant safeguarding policies in place. We expect you to be based in the area where you are delivering activity.

Applicant organisations must have been established for at least 12 months.

Priority will be given to groups with an annual income of less than £150,000.

Grant amount: You can apply for up to £10,000
