Our Roots, Our Stories: Strengthening Identity, Wellbeing & Family Connection in Afro-Caribbean Families This is a gentle, uplifting online programme to bring Afro-Caribbean families together to reconnect with our cultural identity, share stories across generations, and strengthen emotional wellbeing, where parents and children can: 💃🏾Celebrate where they come from 🕺🏾 🧑🏾🧑🏾🧒🏾Talk openly about feelings, identity, and belonging🧑🏾🧑🏾🧒🏾 🧑🏾❤️👩🏾Build stronger relationships through shared cultural experiences🧑🏾❤️👩🏾 The programme is designed to be accessible, culturally appropriate, trauma-informed, and family-friendly, recognising the pressures Afro-Caribbean families may face around racism, stress, and intergenerational silence. This safe and supportive spaces is for parents and children to connect, communicate, and strengthen their sense of identity, belonging and family wellbeing. Who is this program for? - Afro-Caribbean families living in Greater Manchester - Parents/carers and children (ages 7–16) - Families experiencing: - Stress, disconnection, or emotional pressure - Identity challenges - Communication challenges - Limited access to culturally relevant wellbeing support Aims: - To strengthen family relationships through shared cultural experiences - Improve emotional wellbeing and communication within families - Increase cultural pride, confidence, and sense of belonging Delivery: - Online sessions (Zoom) - Each session lasts for 90 minutes - One session a month for 6 months - Each session focuses on a different topic - Limited follow-up support after the program - Monthly child-friendly worksheet provided to each family - Camera is optional - In-person celebration in December Date: Starts on 2nd July 2026 (First Thursday) Time: 19:00 - 20:30 (gmt +1) Frequency: Month x 6 Venue: ZOOM (online) Duration: 90 minutes Cost: FREE (For Tameside Residents) Thanks to Groundwork / People's Postcode Lottery for funding. £45 for families out of Tameside Borough Council 💥Spaces are limited💥 Click to Register https://forms.gle/fXh1mH9t1RvckiLN6
