BURG-WÄCHTER: SECURE COMMUNITIES SCHEME

funding update

Aims/priorities: BURG-WÄCHTER is Europe’s largest safe and post box manufacturer, with its UK head office and distribution facility based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Their Secure Communities Scheme provides successful applicants with the option of choosing one of five standard security kits worth an average of £150 each.  These security kits represent the most frequently requested items featured in the over 60 applications received under the new COVID-19 conditions.  Special security kits will still be created for applications that identify specific requirements not covered by these kits.

Burg-Wächter products available for this scheme include:  padlocks, hasps and staples, security cables and chains, postboxes, doorbells, small safes, security cameras and smart security alarms (require WiFi access).

Previously supported projects included:

  • Scout and Beaver groups
  • Youth and Community Football Clubs
  • Parish, village halls and community centres

Who can apply? Any grassroots organisation that benefits the local community based in the United Kingdom & Ireland can apply. Applications only have to meet simple criteria: that they are a community organisation with limited access to funds with which to increase security in the current situation.  That means any charity, social enterprise, not for profit and community venture can apply so long as the security kits will be used locally.
