British Cycling Places to Ride Programme

funding update

****Due to a surge in interest, the fund will close to new Stage 1 applications for both large and small grants on Monday 16 November 2020. The fund was due to close in January 2021.

Aims/priorities: Grants are available for organisations that are developing cycling activity in their community for the development of new, or the improvement of existing, cycling facilities in communities. The key objectives of the programme are to:

  • Inspire people to ride.
  • Connect the community
  • Build a lasting legacy.

The funding will support small-medium scale facility improvements or equipment through to largescale new build facilities across all types of cycling.

Who can apply? Applications will be accepted from not-for-profit organisations located in England.

Grant amount: There are two levels of funding:

  • Small grants of between £1,000 and £50,000 are available.
  • Larger grants of up to £500,000.

Match funding is required and should be between 25% and 50%.

Application process: There is a two-stage application process. The prospectus, small grants advice and support, and online application form can be found on the British Cycling website.

Deadline: Stage one applications can be submitted at any time until Monday 16 November 2020.
