Aims/priorities: The Ashden Awards promote exceptional climate solutions and the environmental, social and economic benefits they can provide. For more than 20 years these awards have backed ideas delivering lower emissions with grants and development support on offer to winners and finalists.
Through the scheme, and related activities, the Ashden Awards aim to persuade policy makers, funders and the wider public to recognise renewable energy as a tool for addressing the urgent global issues of climate change, pollution and energy supply, as well as the social and economic needs of local communities.
The 2026 awards will support pioneers protecting and restoring nature or widening access to clean energy, in the UK and Global South. Winners could include businesses, public sector bodies, social enterprises or community groups.
Who can apply? Businesses, NGOs, government organisations, social enterprises and community groups are all eligible. Work must be currently available to clients, customers or beneficiaries.
Grant amount: Winners will receive:
- Up to £40,000 in grant funding (with the exception of the Ashden Award for Outstanding Achievement, which does not include a grant).
- Tailored communications and organisational support.
- Global media exposure and storytelling support.
- Connections to funders, investors, and policymakers.
- The opportunity to participate in Ashden's wider programmes and alumni network.
