Aims/Priorities: The new small grants scheme has been set up to support local organisations to help more women and girls' cycle in Greater Manchester. Projects must be delivered within Greater Manchester and focus on encouraging women and girls to cycle. This is a short‑term, one‑off fund linked to the Women and Girls Summer 2026 campaign. While some flexibility is possible, It is expected that funded activity will take place soon after funding is awarded, ideally between June and September 2026.
These small, flexible grants are designed to support practical, locally‑led activities that make cycling more accessible, welcoming and enjoyable for women and girls. Activities or events should: es or events that:
- Promote the benefits of cycling
- Increase confidence, participation or access to cycling
- Support more everyday journeys to be made by bike
Who can apply: The scheme is open to organisations that work with women and girls, including:
- Community and voluntary groups
- VCSFE organisations
- Schools and education settings
- NHS and health organisations
- Not‑for‑profit organisations
Grant amount: Successful applicants will receive a grant of up to £2,000 to deliver activities or events. Funding can be used for one‑off activities or short projects that remove barriers or create new opportunities for women and girls to cycle, including:
- Practical cycling activity (e.g. led rides)
- One‑day events, taster sessions or confidence‑building activities
- Workshops and knowledge‑sharing sessions
- Awareness‑raising sessions or activities
- Community projects
- Purchase of equipment
- Creative projects
