informative youth programme?
Impact
Youth Helpers work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet
Units. You will work flexibly as part of our volunteer youth team to support the delivery of a high
quality and varied programme for our young people. You will work closely with the Network team to
design the scope of your role and allocate responsibilities according to the needs of their Network.

- Tasks: What you would be involved in:
• Supporting the delivery of games, activities, and sessions during Network meetings as part of our
Youth programme.
• Co-ordinating with colleagues in your team to ensure all young people are happy, safe, and
supervised, with at least one fully trained Youth Leader present at all times.
• Empowering young people, creating an inclusive environment and encouraging participation
from young people.
• Supporting the Network Manager as appropriate with tasks specific to youth provision which may
include administration, collecting/creating resources, paperwork, etc.
What are you accountable for:
• Working as part of the youth team in your Network to create a safe, inclusive, and open
environment in which young people can learn life skills including First Aid.
• Delivering a quality programme and an exciting, fun experience to young people.
• This volunteering opportunity is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitations of Offender’s
act and so requires an appropriate criminal records (DBS) check. - Training: The training we will provide for you in your first few months is as follows:
• Welcome programme introducing you to the charity
• Training on appropriate IT systems and processes
• Safeguarding training
• Training in other appropriate St John policies
• Dynamic Risk assessments
The extra training can be provided dependant on specific requirements and interests:
• First Aid training but not essential
• Driver training (if applicable).
• Training on Youth Work, leadership and practical skills as required - Requirements: Willing to travel by public transport or find own way to volunteering location
