Hospital Visitor Volunteers attend Mental Health Facilities on a weekly basis to visit people detained under the Mental Health Act. The purpose of this role is to highlight the work paid Independent Mental Health Advocates (IMHAs) do. Hospital Visitor Volunteers make it easier for people to access our services by helping with referrals, giving accessible information about advocacy and sign posting to other services.

- Tasks: • Participating in weekly community meetings on wards, or site visits. Site visits could be on a ward or in a communal area within a facility
• Promoting our IMHA services and VoiceAbility
• Helping clients to access information about our referral line and/or to complete referrals to Independent Mental Health Advocates (IMHA)
• Keep detailed notes and records of interactions with clients and visits
• Signposting clients to other non-advocacy services and service providers
• Building working relationships with clients and site staff - Training: Role specific training and shadowing will be provided.
