Mahdlo Youth Zone delivers high quality, innovative activities and experiences for young people from Oldham aged 8-19 (or 25 with a disability); to provide opportunities, raise aspirations and support young people to be the best they can be.

Volunteer Mentors
Our mentoring scheme is designed to offer one to one support to young people aged 8-19 (or 25 if they have additional needs). Mentors are volunteers and come from all walks of life, who can give up to 2 hours a week to offer support, guidance and assistance in dealing with any difficulties a young person may be experiencing. Volunteer mentors will work flexibly depending on the young person’s needs and availability.
Activity Workers
Junior (8-19s) or Senior (13-19s) or (8-25s) with additional needs
Activity workers create the environment for young people to socialize, join in fun activities, access advice, information and personal development opportunities.
Volunteer Sports Specialist
Sport is a cornerstone of any effective Youth Zone as it creates the support systems young people can commonly seek such as belonging, loyalty, identity and shared purpose, leadership and defined structure. Whether it’s for fun or development young people can participate in a wide range of sports such as football, climbing or outdoor adventure.
Volunteer Arts Specialist
The Youth Zone offers a diverse and stimulating blend of art based activities that give young people the opportunity to express their creative talents in a safe and nurturing environment. Whether you have a talent or just want to develop new skills, your enthusiasm for the arts will enable young people to participate in sessions.
Volunteer Café & Kitchen Assistants
Do you have some experience of working with food and a passion for good customer service? We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help prepare and sell hot and cold food and drinks. Our café assistants are offered additional accredited food hygiene training within 3 months of starting with us.
Behind the Scenes Volunteering
We are also looking for people with a range of talents who could help us with administration, maintenance, fundraising, van driving…. The list goes on!!!
Roles are 16+ but must have left secondary education. - Training: All training provided
- Requirements: Willing to travel by public transport or find own way to volunteering location
- Interests: Children, Education, Mental Health, Young people
- Suitability: 16-17 year olds, 18 and over
- Activities: Administration, Befriending, Coaching, Driving, Fundraising, Lending a helping hand, Mentoring, Youth work
- DBS Check: Yes
- Are Volunteer Expenses Reimbursed?: Yes
