Do you have an hour or two to spare each week? Could you listen to children read to help them develop key skills and a love of reading?
Schoolreaders volunteers are matched with a primary school that is local to them. They visit the school once a week (term time only) for an hour or two and listen to children read individually, helping to develop the children's reading and comprehension skills whilst encouraging the children to develop a love of reading that will have life long benefits.
Our volunteers really enjoy the experience of volunteering with Schoolreaders and feel they are making a difference to their community - "I enjoy my volunteering immensely. Getting to know the children - discussing the books and laughing at the stories has been a great pleasure and honour and I look forward to continuing.”
