Doorstep Donation Elves - Tameside Toy Appeal 2021

The Action Together team are very excited to be able to launch this year’s Tameside Toy Appeal. Last year’s appeal was a massive success and surpassed all of our expectations. We couldn’t have achieved what we did without the support of our volunteers. Calling all Santa’s helpers. We need your help! Christmas time is almost here, and we want to start filling Santa’s sleigh with toys and gifts so that all the children of Tameside receive a present this year. Christmas time should be something to look forward too. A magical and happy time filled with excitement and joy. Sadly, the number of people living in poverty across the whole of the UK is on the rise. The Covid-19 crisis has caused these figures to rise even higher. With people struggling to provide food for themselves and their families, Christmas gifts are low on the priority list and something that many cannot afford. More people than ever before are suffering with mental health issues. Statistics show that the number of children suffering with mental health and general wellbeing problems is increasing rapidly. Children are likely to be experiencing worry, anxiety and fear due to the pandemic and all of the changes it has created. Help us spread a little joy There are several ways that you can support this year’s Tameside Toy Appeal. As a doorstep donation elf, collecting toys from your local community. As a sleigh driver, helping us to collect all of the toy donations from the drop off points across the borough and getting them to the children’s centres. Help us spread the word about the appeal far and wide by sharing our social media posts and the link to our dedicated Just Giving page. Finally you could donate a toy or gift or contribute to our Toy Appeal fund.

Let’s fill Santa’s sleigh before Christmas Day!
We have accomplished so much with our doorstep donation scheme and we are very proud of everything our volunteers have achieved. Last year’s Doorstep Donation Elves did an incredible job and collected well over 10,000 toys! How amazing is that?
This a flexible volunteer opportunity where the whole family can get involved! As well as your neighbours and their little helpers. The family dog can come along too!! We would absolutely love to have a team of elves, of all ages helping us to collect the toys.

It would be fantastic if you could take lots of photos while you’re out volunteering, wearing your Santa Hats and tinsel scarfs. If you post them on social media and tag us it will help us to promote the Toy Appeal even further.

We would like you to post our very special Tameside Toy Appeal leaflets through the letterboxes on your street and the surrounding area. The leaflet will include information about the toy appeal and what we would like to collect.

There will be a section on the flyer where you can write your name and the time and day you plan to return to collect the donations.

On your chosen day we would like you to return to the places that you posted the leaflets and collect any toy and gift donations that have been left on doorsteps. We will provide you with festive thank you cards to post through the doors of anyone that has been kind enough to leave something out for you.

Once you have finished collecting, we would like you to take all the donations to one of our designated Tameside Toy Appeal drop off points. The toys will be sorted and distributed to local children centres ahead of Christmas Day.
