Aims/priorities: The aim of this open call is to fund and evaluate projects that will help YEF build strong evidence for practices and approaches in areas where clear gaps exist.
The funding is available to organisations across England and Wales that are working to reduce children’s involvement in violence and have the potential for rigorous impact evaluation.
Projects need to primarily support children and young people (aged 10 to 18 years) who are either:

Aims/priorities: The Foundation provides grants to eye clinics, hospitals, schools, libraries and other organisations helping visually impaired people in the UK and overseas. It also funds medical research and the provision of facilities for the treatment or alleviation of visual impairment.
Who can apply? Applications are accepted from any organisations that help the visually impaired in the UK or overseas. Organisations need not necessarily be a charity and can be a community interest company (CIC) or social group and could include:
Aims/priorities: The Peter Harrison Foundation supports projects working with children, young people and adults who are disadvantaged or with disabilities. It offer small and major grants to charities and community amateur sports clubs in the UK and south east of England under the following two grant programmes:
Aims/priorities: Funding is intended to support charities in the UK with projects to encourage young people, in particular those between 11 and 18 from disadvantaged backgrounds, to study science subjects and go on to further education or training in STEM related subjects, in particular the area of Material Science. The Foundation considers Materials Science to be science applied to understanding the production, properties and engineering applications of materials. This may be considered from the perspective of physics, chemistry, mathematics or vocational studies.
After a traumatic experience as islanders were being evicted from the Pacific Island by the USA, 66-year-old Roland found himself in need of support. Though he had British Citizenship, as a French Native speaker with limited English language skills, Roland found his new environment in the UK to be very isolating, and struggled to find work.
Roland was referred to Oldham Social Prescribing as he suffered with depression, isolation, unemployment. He struggled with getting out of his home, but wanted to feel connected to his community.
Debra, Oldham Social Prescribing Officer, was put into contact with Roland and was able to support with his isolation issues by getting him out to socialise, and also introducing him to two community centers where he could spend time volunteering.
As a result of his unemployment and various other issues, Roland also needed help financially. Debra was able to use her resources to lift the financial burdens that were cause for worry, through helping with repairs to his flat, support with rent, council tax, DWP, and also applying for Pension Credit.
Roland is now much more integrated in his community, as he volunteers at Werneth and Freehold Community Centre; spending his time cooking, cleaning and gardening. He also volunteers at the Primrose Centre where he does DIY, gardening, setting up furniture, and is also now able to give back to others needing support by serving meals to those in need.
Roland now feels he is a well-liked and integral and valuable member of his community. He has had an amazing transition through the support he found thanks to Debra and the love she puts into her job as a Social Prescriber.
The Oldham Social Prescribing service empowered Roland to embrace the opportunities offered to him and is now able to help others in less fortunate positions too.
