Action Together Tameside and Tameside Libraries united to host a very special volunteer fair at Portland Basin Museum. Themed “know your neighbourhood”, this event showcased the great variety of different charities and voluntary organisations located across Tameside and highlighted the wonderful assortment of volunteer opportunities and other activities currently on offer.
The aim of the fair was to inform and connect people with what is happening in their local area and volunteering opportunities. Members of the public had the chance visit the museum and to meet these organisations, to spend time chatting with volunteer coordinators and to go away feeling inspired and that they now know their neighbourhood better.
25 VCFSE organisations attended which attracted a large number of visitors eager to find out more about volunteering with them. The museum was the perfect venue, offering a great space for people to come together, combined with vast amounts of Tameside culture and history. Phantasmagoria delivered a fantastic, fun for all activity for the attendees which culminated in the creation of an art piece illustrating what volunteering means to the people of Tameside.
