Tameside Volunteer Celebration Fund 2025 - Grants Awarded

The priorities of the fund were to:

  • Recruit

    Involve new volunteers to help run a group or support an organisation, which are inclusive and flexible to meet the diverse communities across Tameside.

  • Retain

    Creating opportunities for volunteers to feel connected, valued and supported.

  • Recognise

    Celebrating volunteers, their achievements, and the difference they make within communities across Tameside – particularly during the Cost of Living crisis.

These are the grants awarded for Tameside.

Dementia in ActionRecognising Rewarding & Recruiting Volunteers  The group organised a summer garden party/open day to recognise the valuable work their volunteers do and thank them. They combined this with an open day about the work they do and as potential recruitment opportunity for more volunteers, 
Being There Tameside and GlossopVolunteer Celebration DayThe organisation wanted to thank their volunteers for all the hard work they do helping their clients in Tameside, befriending, running social group activities, and transporting them to hospital visits. So they held a special Volunteer Award Celebration Day In June to thank them.
Tameside Vikings Basketball ClubVolunteers CelebrationThe organisation held a celebration event for all the teams within the club in June. Following this event a smaller event was held for volunteers. At this event they recognised their dedicated volunteers in the form of a presentation, giving them time to come together to celebrate the clubs success. 
Empowered To Thrive CICVolunteer Celebration & RecruitmentA recruitment drive was held in June with requests for more volunteers to get involved and support the work at Empowered To Thrive CIC. An evening of fun was also organised for the volunteers are a thank you for their efforts and hard work.
The Shed (Tameside)Celebrating the achievements of our volunteers 
  • Recruit volunteers; invitations and advertising used to contact potential volunteers to the open day and several open evenings planned during August and early September 2025.
  • Retain volunteers; recognised the contribution made to the success of the Shed by their current volunteers by awarding each volunteer with a commemorative plaque made by staff of the Shed.
  • Recognise volunteers; Each volunteer was awarded an individual plaque recognising the period of service to the Shed.
Age UK TamesideVolunteer AwardsThe organisation held celebrations across Volunteers week to recognise their volunteers. They gave a special award to one of the volunteers, two outstanding contribution awards, and a general gift and award for everyone else.
North Tameside Scout DistrictGrow for the FutureThe event and activities focused on recruiting, retaining, and recognizing volunteers through a combination of clear communication, meaningful engagement, and regular recognition. This involved outreach campaigns, volunteer support, and a volunteer celebration event.
Shree Ram MandirBowling/Cinema and Bite to EatThe group organised a team building activity for bowling/cinema and a bite to eat to thank all their volunteers for their continuous support throughout the year. 
Willow Wood HospiceLong Service Awards CeremonyThe event recognised 60 volunteers who have achieved 5, 10, 15 or 20 years of invaluable service who work both within the Hospice, across the retail network of Charity shops, and their distribution centre, without whom the Hospice could not operate.
Silver CordSilver Cord Volunteer Thank You EventAn evening meal to celebrate together the incredible work of the volunteers, from befrienders to Living Room volunteers, trustees and those who support with admin.
Ambitions Oldham and TamesideVolunteer Night out Each year Ambitions put together a night out for all their volunteers across Tameside and Oldham. It’s Ambitions way to say thank you for all the hard work and dedication. This year, the group held a bowling event to show volunteers their appreciation. 
Reach ChurchVolunteer CelebrationAn evening of fun food and celebration. To show their volunteers just how amazing they are and thank them for the valuable work that they do the group hosted an evening at the Church building bringing all the volunteers together to thank and celebrate them. 
Reuben's RetreatAnnual CelebrationFor the December celebration, Reuben's Retreat will present gifts to volunteers and organise a buffet to really show their appreciation. They will also be reading out feedback from beneficiaries and staff at the event to show how valued the volunteers are.
The Grafton CentreVolunteer Appreciation AfternoonThey held a Volunteer Appreciation Afternoon Party at the centre with food and entertainment to say thank you to their lovely volunteers for all that they do. This was also an opportunity for all staff/volunteers and trustees to get to know each other.
Community MattersHattersley Volunteer Celebration EventThe group held an event to celebrate and recognise the work and the dedication of volunteers in the Hattersley area.
Andrew Street Pond AssociationAndrew St PondSimilarly to August 2023 and August 2024 the group held an event to celebrate the successes of their community project with the volunteers, their families and the local community by holding a 'Party at the Pond'.
Chronic Illness and Disability Support GroupVolunteer T-shirtsAs part of the expansion the group purchased new t-shirts for their volunteers to wear at group meetings and to draw attention at events.
Dementia WarriorsCelebration of VolunteersThe group organised to take their volunteers out for an Italian meal to say "thank you" for all they do and the support they provide their guests.
Noah's ARTNoah’s pARTy – 10 year anniversary eventTo celebrate the 10-year anniversary the organisation held a special volunteer celebration event to commemorate the occasion. This was open to all volunteers, past and present, who have contributed over the last decade.
Emmaus MossleyVolunteer’s BBQIn celebration of their wonderful volunteers, they held an evening of food and entertainment in June. This included a barbeque and buffet, games and general merriment. 
Droyslden & District Foodbank11 years of volunteer support

To acknowledge the contribution of their original volunteers an event was held to mark their dedication.

By hosting the celebratory evening in a local business, they supported the hospitality sector and none of the volunteers had the pressure of hosting and providing for the event.

Families of Autistic Children TogetherVolunteer Celebration EventThe funds were used to take volunteers out for lunch/dinner as a way to thank them for all their hard work.
250th Manchester Scout GroupVolunteer Tent Assembly CompetitionVolunteers were divided into two teams and their task was to assemble a tent the quickest, with the winner awarded the Golden Tent Peg. The event was also cheered on by all the children who attend the weekly sessions, which are led by these volunteers.
