The Tameside Communities fund supported Tameside VCFSE organisations who are working to tackle the health, social and economic inequalities that exist across Tameside, and invest in locally rooted, community led prevention to reach those most marginalised and vulnerable across communities.
The priorities of the fund are to deliver and promote:

Medium Grants | |
New Life Church Tameside | Steps to Living Well at New Life Church The church's vision is to improve life experience, health and aspirations for local people who experience poverty-related challenges in their lives, and have ‘fallen through the net’. The centre run several existing activities for children and families as well as adults which will continue through this fund. |
Reach Church | Reach Community Garden Expansion of the community garden offer to local schools to provide a space to de-stress, develop teamwork skills and learn group dynamics, learn new skills and build physical & mental resilience. The project also involves short courses for local people to learn the basics of plant care & management, learn to grow their own vegetables, how to garden for wildlife and basics of beekeeping. |
The Anthony Seddon Fund | Connected Communities: Visibility, Voice & Impact This project introduces a Community Engagement Coordinator, alongside a small admin and impact support function and outreach materials, to address a critical gap in mental health visibility and engagement across Tameside. |
West African Development | ILERA Project The project which translates to ‘Triumph in health’ in Yoruba will aim to improve health, wellbeing, and community cohesion among African and BME youth in Tameside through structured sports, leadership training, and cultural engagement. |

Ark of Hope | Community Hot Meals Extension of the organisation's trusted twice-weekly lunch service—which already delivers 20,000+ hot, nutritious meals a year—so we can meet the clear, repeated resident request for more frequent sit-down meals. |
Carmel Community Church | Carmel Café Manager The funding secured the post of the Church's Cafe Manager for another year to develop an enhanced structured training programme for those attending providing them with volunteer opportunities within the café and and an opportunity to learn and earn. |
Silver Cord | The Living Room Appointment of a café manager to ensure the service which is a lifeline for many in Hyde can continue to support vulnerable and marginalised people attending. |
St Gabriel's Community Group | Installation of Comprehensive Audio-visual System The addition of a new audio visual system which will improve the facilities and enhance the provision already offered, ensuring a reduction in the inequalities being felt by many in the community. It is important to St Gabriel’s that everything they offer and provide is accessible to all and will benefit and strengthen the whole community. |
Ridgehill Together CIO | Healthcare Closer to Home: Ridge Hill A community health initiative aimed at improving long-term health outcomes for Ridge Hill residents. Delivered by Ridge Hill Together CIO in partnership with the VCFSE sector and supported by Stalybridge Primary Care Network (PCN), the project will integrate community-led efforts with the wider health system to drive sustainable change. |
Veterans Food Co CIC | Food is Mood Delivery of 3 eight-week Food is Mood sessions at Oxford Park Ashton and 2 eight-week sessions at Victoria Park Community Centre Denton. The project would include working in small groups, buying and budgeting a recipe, cooking the food to upskill them and then eating together to encourage good wellbeing and mental health. |
Water Adventure Centre | Staying Safe, Active and Connected to Communities Delivery of 3 sessions a week all year round at the Centre in Droylsden, on Mondays for girls and young women aged 8-19 years, and Thursdays for young people aged 11-16 years and Sundays for young people aged 8-13 years. The project will enhance the open access youth service and play work sessions by offering 1:1 mentoring, homework support, IT support and training for young people who do not have access to the internet at home, to help them to learn and achieve. |

Akeru Aikido Club | Akeru Aikido Club Through the fund the club were able to purchase additional judo mats to allow more families with SEND children to attend the weekday class at Active Tameside Oxford Park |
Brunswick Dam Conservation Group | Brunswick Dam Conservation Group Excavation and restoration of the Brunswick Dam area which has seen years of sediment and neglect. The project will get the water coming back into the Dam area and restore it back to the nature reserve it once was providing a safe green space for the Mossley Community. |
Cedar Park and Hurst Community Group | Friends Around Friday Social group run entirely by volunteers bringing people in Ashton together regularly so they feel less alone and more part of something. |
Chronic Illness and Disability Support Group | CIDSG Monthly Meetings Addition of a bigger room to accommodate new group members. The group's main purpose is to offer non-medical support and advice to people suffering a chronic illness, is run by people who suffer from illnesses themselves. |
Dukinfield Moravian Church Hamper Outreach Project | Dukinfield Moravian Church Hamper Outreach Project The funding will be used towards purchasing emergency food and hygiene hampers to families in Dukinfield and across Tameside. The group has been delivering these for over 10 years through referrals from Social Services Family Intervention Workers. |
EVJ Aspire CIC | All For One The main aim of the project is to support young girls in the St Peters Ward who are most vulnerable. The funds will go towards providing 10 confidence and equality sessions with a focused discussion element where young people can reflect on their own behaviour and set goals. These will include sessions around hate crime/knife crime and horticultural workshops. |
Fit Over Fifty | Those Were The Days Provision of 5 free weekly sessions delivered in Stalybridge/Dukinfield for residents over the age of 50. The sessions will involve people sharing experiences and memories form their past, reminiscing about life from the 1940s - 1970s. The aim is that these will reduce loneliness for adults over 50 in Tameside. |
George's Kitchen | Helping the Vulnerable in Ridge Hill Continuation of a free frozen meal doorstep delivery service to vulnerable/isolated residents in Stalybridge. Starting in December 2025 through these funds to respond to a particularly lonely period for residents. |
Green Creations CIC | Capturing Nature's Beauty Delivery of a series of summer pop-up botanical printing workshops, in collaboration with local Tameside Community Garden Projects at St Gabriel's Community Garden and the Reach Church Community Garden in Stalybridge. The sessions will provide fun and inclusive social opportunities, bringing people together and enabling them to engage with nature and discover their own creativity. |
Guide Bridge Theatre | Wednesday Club This fund will go towards delivering the regular club for free for an initial six month period. The monthly activity includes entertainment, singing along, dancing, optional low cost lunch and games. It runs between 12pm - 2pm, a targeted daytime activity to encourage those who are reluctant to go out at night and particularly benefits residents lacking social interaction |
Haughton Green Community Forum | HG Summer Camp 2025 Provision of a free Summer Camp during the summer holidays for children aged 5 to 11 years in Denton South, particularly those from disadvantaged families. Activities will include sports and physical activities as well as creative projects based on the needs of SEND and SEMH children. |
Menopause Your Way | Menopause Your Movement Building on the fitness and movement sessions already running for women peri to post menopause, this fund will go towards delivering nutrition and confidence sessions enabling women in the community to live healthier and happier lives. |
Mess and Play Company | SEND Support Parent/Carer Drop In Delivery of a monthly parent/carer drop in session once for parents/carers in the Hyde/Hattersley area who care for children with special educational needs or disabilities. |
Power of Resilience | Monthly Seasonal Community Gardening Workshops The monthly intergenerational gardening workshops, set in the urban district of Ridge Hill, directly address challenges faced by people by creating inclusive opportunities for individuals across Tameside to connect, learn, and grow together. |
Stalybridge and Dukinfield Recreation Bowling Club | Stalybridge and Dukinfield Bowling Club Through this fund the group will use portable “Bowls Buddies” equipment, to deliver accessible, non-intimidating sport sessions within schools and community venues, as well as inviting groups into the club’s facility. This will directly address local health inequalities and entrenched inactivity through a volunteer-led, community-based model. |
Tameside Health Group | Keeping Fit and Healthy This project will promote awareness about health and wellbeing predominantly for the South Asian community (but not exclusively), by providing Keep Fit information and activity sessions for Tameside communities and the surrounding areas. These will be delivered twice a week at Ashton Central Mosque. |
Tameside Meals SEVA Group | Tameside Meals and Cooking Classes Project Through the provision of free meals and cooking classes the group will address immediate food insecurity in Tameside communities while building long-term resilience and sustainability by reducing food waste, empowering volunteers, and cutting down CO2 emissions. |
Tameside Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group | Trip To The Police Museum A trip to the Police Museum, Manchester for group members living with pulmonary fibrosis to enjoy a different day out with lunch, transport, and a private visit provided for. |
The Ivy Club | Let Us Entertain You The funds will go towards securing artists, speakers and performers to perform at the weekly social group for over 60s based in Hattersley. |
Vitality Gardens | Gardening School Sessions For All The funds will go towards expanding the sessions offered to the local SEN school and the children and families of the Hyde community and providing free activities for low income families. Children and families will be invited to the community garden to learn new gardening skills and to help maintain a healthy lifestyle whilst also improving their mental health and wellbeing. |
