On Wednesday 5 April Action Together joined members of the local community for a Share Ramadan Iftar event at Boundary Park in Oldham. The event was organised by Oldham Greenhill Community Sports and Recreation Club in partnership with Oldham Athletic and Oldham Athletic Community Trust. We joined Fatima Women's Association, local councillors, members of the public and other representatives to learn about Ramadan, the importance of community, and outreach work to attract people of all faiths and cultures into football.
A number of staff from Oldham Athletic fasted on the day, and attendees were invited to come together at the event to break the fast.
Jane from our Oldham Community Team said,
It was interesting to hear from a local Imam why people in the Muslim faith fast and the other traditions that take place, and to meet old and new friends including my colleague Uzma in her Fatima Women’s Association role.
