Grants awarded from the Rochdale Recovery Communities Fund £5k
Thanks to funding from Rochdale Borough Council Public Health team, Action Together were able to offer grants of up to £5,000 to help the VCFSE sector to support lived experience initiatives and recovery support services to help people start and sustain recovery from problem drug and alcohol use.
Projects funded (Year/Round info):
| Member Organisation | Amount Awarded | Investment Projects |
| Demesne Community Association | £3,980 | This funding would support the cost of room hire for one year for the peer support group based at the centre, focusing on Narcotics Anonymous (NA). The group meets once a week for a two-hour session. The funding would help the centre meet its increased running costs while ensuring this essential group can continue to operate without placing financial pressure on those attending. |
| Hamer Amateur Boxing Club | £5,000 | We will use the grant to deliver weekly boxing-based fitness sessions, which are peer-led recovery sessions, at Hamer Boxing Club in Rochdale. The sessions will run once a week for three hours over a 12-month period (46 weeks) and will provide a safe, structured space for people affected by drug and alcohol use. |
| Happy Me Community | £4,950 | Women in recovery who are ready to learn holistic healing techniques and explore pathways into becoming a therapist, practitioner, or community wellbeing volunteer. A trauma-informed holistic well-being training programme offering accredited qualifications in:
|
| Get Together After Serving | £5,000 | Our idea is to expand Op Check In to provide targeted support for military veterans who are struggling with drug and alcohol misuse, or who are at risk due to isolation, trauma or homelessness. Many veterans in our community face complex challenges linked to their service, including PTSD, poor mental health and unstable housing, all of which increase vulnerability to substance misuse. |
| Coming Home Project | £4,924.50 | “See me now,” is a 12-week creative recovery space for women in Rochdale who are rebuilding their lives after, or living with substance or alcohol use. This project creates a structured, trauma-informed space where women can explore their journeys through poetry, journalling, visual and audio art. |
| Brimrod Methodist Church | £5,000 | Our intention is to create a warm, safe, non-judgemental space for people of all faiths or no faith to get support and encouragement through interactions with the staff and peers. To create an environment which challenges the stigma and stereotyping of people with addictions and in recovery, where people can ask for help and be signposted to appropriate further support as we are not a medical agency or seek to replace them but to compliment and support the addiction services within and outside of the borough. |
