Rochdale community groups honoured with KAVS Award

Proud to congratulate and share the news of our Rochdale-based member organisations as they are presented with their King’s Award for Voluntary Service awards in recent weeks

Posted: 15 May 2025

Last November, we shared stories from the record number of Action Together member organisations who received  The King’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2024, and this May we have been delighted to see those groups all receive their awards first-hand, either at local ceremonies or with an invite to Buckingham Palace.

The King's Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) shines a light on the incredible work of voluntary groups and is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK. The 2024 awards honoured a record number of of our member organisations from across Oldham, Rochdale and Tameside and we are delighted to congratulate them all in recognition of their amazing work.

We caught up with Caring and Sharing following their invite to a garden party at Buckingham Palace where they were presented with their award to find out just what it means to them.

Caring and Sharing Rochdale

Caring and Sharing Rochdale are dedicated to helping asylum seekers, refugees, and other marginalised individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and respect. Their approach is centred around understanding individual needs and providing tailored assistance that makes a real difference.

This May, the founders from Caring and Sharing Rochdale were honoured with an invitation to attend a prestigious garden party at Buckingham Palace, hosted by His Majesty the King.

Speaking to Nicky, CEO at Caring and Sharing she told us how it was a proud day that reflected the heart of their mission and the community we serve.

"The opportunity was such a memorable experience - an unforgettable day that I’ll cherish forever, and we are so proud to have represented our community. Having the presence of the King and Queen at this prestigious event was a meaningful recognition of their dedication and the values we uphold as an organisation. A truly royal honour!”
