Our response to the Synagogue Attack in Manchester

Posted: 3 October 2025

We are horrified and appalled at the attack on Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Middleton Road in Crumpsall, Manchester.

Although this didn't happen in one of our boroughs, we know it will have shocked communities across Greater Manchester and beyond. Our thoughts are with the affected worshippers, their families, and the wider Jewish community, who faced an unconscionable attack on Yom Kippur.

We stand for stronger communities, in solidarity with all who unite against hate, division and violence. We are deeply concerned about the ongoing increase in intolerance in our society, including prejudice on the basis of race, sexual orientation, religion, and other identities.

Action Together commits to working with, and supporting, our diverse community and faith leaders who come together to stand against hate wherever it arises.

To our members, we hope your staff are safe and supported at this distressing time. Greater Manchester Resilience Hub provide a critical incident and trauma service to all VCFSE staff, as well as health and care staff. Visit here for details: www.penninecare.nhs.uk/gmrh-staff
