Oldham training on the links between conspiracy theories and potential violent extremism

Oldham Council are offering training sessions which will provide an overview of the links between conspiracy theories and potential violent extremism.

Participants will gain the following knowledge:

  • An overview of popular contemporary conspiracy theories and why some have become mainstream
  • Discussion about why people find conspiracy theories appealing
  • How individuals can start to believe multiple, often contradictory, conspiracy theories
  • How conspiracy theories are circulated online
  • Ways that influencers use conspiracy theories to promote extremist narratives
  • How to discuss this subject with individuals in ways that facilitate critical thinking

Please note that attendees must be based in Oldham Borough and places are limited and will be offered on a first come first serve basis.
