Oldham members shine at the KAVS Ceremony

We are proud to congratulate our Oldham based Action Together member organisations who attended The King’s Award for Voluntary Service award ceremony at Gorton Monastery.

It has been an amazing year for our Oldham groups who received their King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) in Manchester. The KAVS shines a light on the incredible work of voluntary groups and is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK.

"The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is a testament to the outstanding dedication, commitment, and impact that volunteers have had on the community."

Group Leader of United Youth Alliance (KAVS Awardee 2023), Deborah Terras

We heard from some of the groups who attended and what the award meant to them.

Barnabas Thrive!

"Receiving the KAVS Award was and is a very great honour. But in a way, it feels like a smaller honour than serving people in these needy parts of Oldham. Actually making a difference to people as they struggle is a very great privilege.

"Our team have worked tirelessly for years to improve the lives of people and communities around them without seeking recognition. But this award didn’t just recognise their relentless efforts, but also demonstrates that their efforts continue to have tremendous positive impact on the community.".
