Lifelong Learning Partnerships and Community Engagement team offer community groups various FREE activities to help with health and wellbeing and reduce social isolation.
Below are a few examples, these can be tailored to meet the needs of each group. Life Long Learning attempt to provide resources for free however, depending on the activity there may be a minimal charge for resources, this is usually clarified once a group has decided what they would like us to deliver. The tutor costs are covered via their budget
- Various craft activities for example, paper crafts, card making, decoupage, fused glass (pottery centre)
- Sewing (we can provide sewing machines if they can be stored safely)
- Pottery (group would have to attend the pottery centre on Greaves St)
- Flower arranging or flower arranging with a twist
- Drawing and Painting
- Bead jewellery making
- Candle making
- Resin jewellery making (cost implication)
- Cookery (group attend Turf Lane)
- Sugar paste modelling
- Introduction to bee keeping, bee wax candles, wax wraps
- Pre -employability courses
- Family learning courses (to help parents to support their children’s health and wellbeing / development)
They can also deliver Connect 5 mental health training, intended to contribute towards promoting mental wellbeing, preventing mental health deterioration and when necessary, identifying and taking appropriate action to address mental health.
