Manchester City Mission understand the impact that pain and suffering can have on the lives of people and their communities. We exist to bring joy, hope and transformative change through the power of Jesus Christ.
We were approached by a man who was homeless, he had no hope, and a real negative outlook on life. This man came to us for help at the Oldham Drop-In asking if we could help. H had been homeless for over 4yrs.
We were asked by this gentleman if we could help him to find somewhere to live. He wanted to be local as his family live in Oldham. He also asked if we could support him once he had found somewhere to live. He needed help with budgeting, furniture, and registering with a local doctor. There were many layers to this man’s issues.
We began looking for accommodation immediately, and was able to find him a flat in Oldham through First Choice homes. We found him a local doctor and helped him register with the practice. Our Next Stage Housing project co-ordinator was able to help him with budgeting and also help him with furniture from local charities. We also helped him through Acts 435 to enable him to get carpets, blinds, etc…
H is now doing really well. He is still using the Drop-In and if he has any issues we are able to assist him. We have regularly done home visits, and he now has a place he calls home. Last month he asked if we could help him make contact with his children, he is now receiving letters from them. He is now also thinking of getting back to work. At Operation Joy we stand with that person, and help them to do life.
