Live Well: Centres, Spaces and Offers Grants Awarded | Heywood

There was £65,125 allocated to fund in Heywood. We successfully fully funded one organisation, and part funded three organisations. There was an underspend of £1,737.77 which was transferred in to Rochdale South as this is the most deprived area.

Live Well Centre: What we are envisioning for the centre going forward, is a true, everyone welcome living room, where you can get help with all aspects of life, from health to assistance with financial matters and form filling, from working skills to wellbeing and mental health help and advice.

We want to be able to be a living room, where we can deal with all needs in a sensitive way that maintains dignity 

We are seeking a holistic approach to health and well-being that we hope gives a” one-stop-shop” were our community can reach out for assistance and enrichment.

Back of the Moss Community Centre £12,242.56 Live Well Centre: We want to find out what makes our Back of The Moss Community Thrive, What do they want in order to achieve, what barriers do they have coming to the centre. We want to find out what really matters to our community. We want to know how Back of The Moss Community make a positive impact to the community so we can share that with the whole community, how can we improve this further to create a live well space for everyone. We want to hire an outreach worker who has lived in experience and knows the barriers that the community could be facing and the challenges daily. We want the approach of the friend next door friendly chat with a brew. We want to attract the community, we also want to help them long term by providing laptops which could help them find work

Live Well Space: As Your Trust is the independent local charity responsible for the ongoing operation of Heywood Civic, we must secure further funding to run all the wonderful new activity within the building. A Live Well grant will play a crucial role in this, through:

Over the next year we will test, learn and grow, working with our community to understand how we can best serve the people of Heywood for years to come. 

Our Live Well Space will offer:

A Warm Welcome: The first thing we want to offer is a friendly face! We will recruit Meet & Greet volunteers to help people take their first step inside, understand everything that’s going on, assist with booking activities or simply sit and chat. Meet & Greet Volunteers will be equipped with knowledge about wider networks of support across Heywood, including Live Well provision. 

Community Activities: Together with community partners, we will deliver over 670 affordable, inclusive activities designed with and for our community in the next year, including:

  • Fun Dance  
  • LGBTQIA+ Inclusive Dance
  • Movers, Shakers & Storymakers - movement for littles one and their families
  • Chaos Choir – parent and baby singing
  • Tea Dance
  • Break Dance
  • Music Production
  • Joyful Group Singing
  • Yoga and Wellbeing
  • Youth Theatre
  • Youth Dance
  • Plus, two new sessions chosen by Heywood residents! 

Positive Pathways: We will connect people to a wealth of opportunities, through:

  • Meet & Greet Volunteers connecting community members with provision across Heywood
Watering Your Soul £21,323.50

Live Well Offer: This funding will enable us to deliver 2 strands of activity: individual advocacy and a bi-monthly group celebration event. 

Individual advocacy: we can provide 5 hours of support to a maximum of 5 women per week, with 5 hours per week admin time to prepare or follow up from each appointment. This support can include: 

  • Support to prepare for a meeting with a social worker from Children’s Services.
  • Attending appointments with women including mental health and substance misuse appointments.
  • Support to develop more positive relationships between beneficiaries and authorities including social workers from the NEST team (who work with pregnant women who have already experienced child removal); Children’s Services and foster carers.
  • Support to develop/maintain positive relationships with children through contact visits.
  • Support to navigate the Housing system.
