Leslie Sell Charitable Trust

Aims/priorities: The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust provides grants for organisations belonging to the Scouting or Guide movement in the UK. The Trust makes small grants to Groups to help with the cost of making repairs, or purchasing sundry items of equipment. It also gives assistance to groups and individuals when they make trips in the UK or overseas. Due to the current pandemic and the disruption this has caused to normal Scouting and Guiding activities the Trust is introducing two additional grants.  One will be for IT support (e.g. towards a zoom membership for one year or the purchasing of firesticks or similar) to assist with delivering a blended Scout or Guide programme. The grant amount for this category would be £100. The second grant would be to help with the Census/Insurance costs for 2021 due to falling subscription payments and lack of other fundraising opportunities in 2020. The amount of this grant would be 75% of the Group annual charge up to a maximum of £750.

These new grants will be reviewed in May 2021.

Who can apply? Eligible organisations must be part of the Scouts or Guides associations.

Grant amount: Funding is at the discretion of the Trust.

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the Trust has introduced two additional temporary grants:

  • IT support: £100 to assist with delivering a blended Scout or Guide programme.
  • Census/insurance costs for 2021: up to £750 is available to cover 75% of the Group’s annual charge.
