About Homeless Friendly

Homeless Friendly is a national charity improving access to healthcare and services for people experiencing homelessness. Through training, accreditation, advocacy and partnership working, we support organisations to provide inclusive and compassionate services.

Job Purpose

This is an exciting new position within Homeless Friendly and offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future direction of a growing national charity.

We recognise that candidates may bring different skills, experiences and networks to the organisation. Therefore, we are open to discussing the scope of the role, working pattern and remuneration package with the successful applicant.

The postholder will work closely with the Founder and Trustees to develop and grow Homeless Friendly, helping secure funding, build strategic partnerships, influence policy and expand our reach nationally.

As Homeless Friendly continues to develop, there will be opportunities to shape the role, develop new projects and potentially build and lead a wider team as funding and organisational growth allow.

This role would suit an experienced charity professional, fundraiser or partnership manager who is passionate about tackling homelessness and health inequalities.

Key Responsibilities 

Fundraising and Income Generation

  • Identify and secure grant funding opportunities.
  • Develop and manage a funding pipeline.
  • Prepare high-quality funding applications and reports.
  • Develop relationships with trusts, foundations and corporate partners.
  • Support community fundraising initiatives and donor campaigns.

Partnerships and Growth

  • Build partnerships with NHS organisations, local authorities, housing associations, charities and businesses.
  • Expand the Homeless Friendly programme into new geographical areas.
  • Develop corporate sponsorship opportunities.
  • Establish strategic relationships that support long-term sustainability.

Impact and Policy Influence

  • Develop systems to measure impact and social value.
  • Use evidence and lived experience to influence policy and practice.
  • Prepare reports, briefings and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Represent Homeless Friendly at regional and national events.

Communications and Profile Raising

  • Increase awareness of Homeless Friendly through media and public engagement.
  • Develop campaigns that highlight the experiences of people affected by homelessness.
  • Support production of annual impact reports.

Strategic Development

  • Work closely with trustees and the Founder to develop the charity’s long-term strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation and service development.
  • Support recruitment of future staff and volunteers as funding grows.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Experience within homelessness, health, housing or social justice sectors.
  • Experience securing grant funding and managing fundraising activity.
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience producing reports, funding bids and impact documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and drive organisational growth.

What Success Looks Like

We are seeking an individual who is excited by the opportunity to help build and shape Homeless Friendly's next phase of development. As the organisation grows and secures additional funding, there may be opportunities to expand the role, increase hours and take on leadership responsibilities for future staff, volunteers and projects.
