The England Illegal Money Lending Team is offering a free online training session to frontline professionals to help raise awareness of loan sharks and illegal money lending. The training will provide an overview of loan sharks, including how they operate and how they coerce and control people. Participants will learn the signs to look out for and how best to support victims of this crime.
Loan sharks trap people in a vicious spiral of debt and use ruthless tactics to enforce repayment on loans. They destroy lives and ruin communities. Illegal money lending is one of the biggest drivers of debt and poverty and the cost of living crisis will force more people to borrow money from loan sharks. If you are concerned that someone you know has borrowed from a loan shark, you can contact the England Illegal Money Lending Team for advice.
