Greater Manchester Walking Grants

Published date:
Monday, 2nd December 2019

Aims/priorities: Grants are available to encourage more people in Greater Manchester to walk more during social distancing restrictions. They are particularly looking for applications that encourage people who are usually less active or inactive to start or increase the amount they walk whilst following social distancing guidelines. The grants are funded by Greater Manchester Moving who have received funding from Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership to support as many people as possible to walk regularly. Although plans for traditional walking groups are eligible they would like groups to think creatively about how they can encourage people to get out and about. The grants can be used for a variety of purposes which may include; equipment, travel expenses, training, additional staff-time and facilitators.

Who can apply? Voluntary and Community groups and Social Enterprises

Grant amount: There are three tiers of grants and groups can apply for more than one grant -

  • Small grants from £50 to £1,000 - currently open for applications
  • Medium grants of £1,000 to £5,000 - currently closed for applications
  • Partnership grants of up to £15,000 - currently closed for applications

Application process: You will need to fill in a short online application form telling them about your organisation, what you would like to do, what you would spend the funding on and who will benefit from your project. This can be found on their website.
